Slough Quality Protects

The new initiative for the voluntary sector in Slough

The programme has been developed by the Slough Children and Young People's Voluntary Sector Forum. It helps organisations to demonstrate the standard and quality of their work to others.   The programme has been widely promoted and is now well recognised locally. It can help organisations when applying for funding or seeking to otherwise engage or work with outside bodies.   Slough Quality Protects is a progressive programme for all local community and voluntary organisations.  It enables them to demonstrate to users, staff, volunteers, funders, sponsors, statutory organisations and influential bodies the quality of their services.  Working through the programme will also help to ensure good practice and promote a high standard of work with children and young people.   The process will help organisations to think about and clarify their principles and values and to be able to show this in their day to day operation.

How does the scheme work?

It is designed as a journey; organisations move from bronze to platinum in stages as follows:

• BRONZE
• SILVER
• GOLD
• PLATINUM

How does this help the partners within the Children's Trust?

The Quality Assurance Standards provide a means whereby commissioners can easily judge the standard of service delivery.

The process of attaining the standard challenges and then improves the organisation's skills, capacity and confidence – thereby growing the market and encouraging commissioners to contract with the third sector organisations.

Will it help organisations to implement the Children and Young People's Plan?

Yes. The new quality assurance scheme (Slough Quality Protects) ensures that there is a robust third sector delivering services on the ground for children and young people.

The services being delivered will have full safeguarding practices in place.  Providers will feel more confident in their ability to deliver services safely.

The Children's Trust can also be more confident that every child in Slough involved with these organisations will be safe.

Delivering high quality services can be achieved through a quality standards scheme allowing services to deliver on local plan outcomes.

How will we know it has improved outcomes?

You will be able to identify better safeguarding practices within your organisations and ensure that you are meeting Every Child Matter 5 Outcomes, as better services will be delivered and services will be commissioned out to the Third Sector Organisations.
