Principles

This plan is underpinned by an agreed set of values and principles.

Children are entitled to:

  • Grow up healthy in body and mind;
  • Be safe in their family, their community and their school;
  • Achieve their full potential at school and in their community;
  • Be active citizens who take responsibility for their actions and contribute to their community;
  • Enter adult life as independent, competent individuals receiving the support that they require to achieve this;
  • Be able to grow and develop free from prejudice and discrimination;
  • Have equality of opportunity and access to services;
  • Make informed decisions and life choices.

 

Slough Children's Trust will:

  • Involve children, young people, parents and carers in the development and delivery of services and show how they have made a difference;
  • Deliver high quality safe services as locally as possible based on the agreed priorities for children and young people in Slough; 
  • Offer early intervention and prevention services;
  • Support parents in caring for and educating their children;
  • Make sure that organisations delivering children's services employ high quality staff who are trained and supported to work with children and young people;
  • Promote equality of opportunity and access for all children and young people;
  • Monitor performance and focus on achieving improved outcomes;
  • Make the best use of resources for children and young people in Slough; 
  • Use a commissioning approach to secure services to meet agreed outcomes based on need.
